Choosing Geriatrics as a Profession
Currently, the population of aged people in the entire world is significantly increasing. As people continue to age, they constantly become dependent on other people to aid them to obtain proper care. Unfortunately, the young people who can aid in caring for aged people are busy looking for jobs or working their youthful lives out searching for the means of earning a living. Most young people take their aged relatives to adult foster care homes whereby they can obtain adult care as they continue working to earn a living.
The gap created by the continuously increasing number of old people in the adult foster care homes together with the limited personnel to care for them necessitated me to conclude. I conclude that I should have myself trained as an adult geriatric family care specialist. I believe this would make a significant change to rectifying the imbalance existing between an inadequate number of adult care specialists and the vast number of aged people in adult foster care homes demanding and yearning for their care. I need the best institution of higher learning to enable me to train into being the best specialist in adult geriatric family caregiving.
As a result, I have decided to apply to Drexel University for a Masters’s program in adult geriatric family care. I know that Drexel University is one of the best institutions of higher learning offering an adult geriatric family care program. Drexel University has a long experience in training quality nurses including adult geriatric family care specialists. I know that Drexel University trains its students according to the current caregiving trends.
The university also trains its students according to the modern requirements of the dynamic nursing environment. From the past graduates of Drexel University, I learned that this university always goes ahead to attach their students with a vast network of nursing professionals to allow such students to interact with the experts in the field. The main reason for opting to apply for this program at Drexel University instead of any other university is the fact that the university majors in offering practical training to their students by their workplace requirements.
Currently, I am a degree graduated having a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Daystar University. I am also an experienced nurse. I have worked at St Mary’s Hospital for the past eight years. As a nurse, I have learned a lot of things including time management, ethical nursing practices, appropriate caregiving skills, and teamwork skills. In addition to the skills obtained as I was practicing nursing, I am also good at acquiring new relevant skills, empathizing with people, and working in unity with my colleagues.
In summary, I believe that Drexel University will equip me with appropriate knowledge to aid me to excel in the course. The university will train me on efficient nursing and caregiving skills to enable me to train into being the best specialist in adult geriatric family caregiving. I believe that Drexel University will mold me into a practice-oriented student just as their motto states. I also believe that I will be enrolling in the best program since the institution has great experience in offering adult geriatric family care programs. Finally, I believe that Drexel University will enable me to learn a variety of things to use in my career in the future.
