Clinical Nurse Leader: Appropriateness in Medical Institutions
Abstract
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has collaborated with individuals from different learning institutions and healthcare facilities to develop a new nursing role. The targeted role is that of a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). The survey below analyzed the appropriateness of this new role in different healthcare settings.
Survey Determining How the New Role Relates to Nursing Practice
The article “The Role of the Clinical Nurse Leader” supports the new role of a CNL. This role is effective in producing better nursing practices. To begin with, CNLs can mentor and empower their nurses. According to the AACN, Clinical Nurse Leaders will get more training to deal with every healthcare problem. These professionals will embrace new nursing concepts and ideas. This approach will produce the best goals in every healthcare facility. Clinical Nurse Leaders will bring the best clinical skills in their working environments (Grohar-Murray, DiCroce, & Langan, 2010). Such leaders will acquire a master’s degree to promote the best healthcare practices.
Healthcare facilities “must develop and support new models towards improving the quality of patient care” (Stanley, 2006, p. 109). The new role of a Clinical Nurse Leader supports this obligation. Such a leader will mentor his or her nurses. This survey encourages CNLs to provide evidence-based support to their patients. Clinical Nurse Leaders will ensure many nurses in different healthcare settings improve their competencies (Stanley, 2006). The CNLs will improve every medical practice.

Many caregivers work hard in an attempt to get the best healthcare outcomes. Such caregivers can benefit the most from this new role. For instance, CNLs have the potential to encourage, support, and mentor their caregivers (Stanley, 2006). The practice will produce the best results thus improving the quality of care.
Clinical Nurse Leaders can offer useful insights to nurses in pediatric departments. These leaders also have a role to play in different home nursing practices (HNPs). Many elderly citizens receive health support from different caregivers. This role will ensure such caregivers understand the issues affecting the elderly. The new role will be useful in different nursing fields. Clinical Nurse Leaders can also use evidence-based practices to support their patients (Grohar-Murray et al., 2010). CNLs have the potential to offer new skills towards effective nursing practice.
Results and Analysis
The above results describe why the AACN must support every Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). This new role is critical towards improving the quality of healthcare available to different patients. Clinical Nurse Leaders can engage different stakeholders to improve the quality of care. According to Stanley (2006, p. 108), “caregivers, nurse leaders, clinical practitioners, and doctors should collaborate with CNLs to achieve the best goals”. This new role is critical towards improving the quality of care availed to different patients. Many analysts believe strongly that this new role will make every nursing institution successful. The decision to embrace this new role will produce the best healthcare outcomes.
