Educational Management in Early Childhood Education (ECE)

What is Early Childhood Education? In fact, everyone who surrounds a little child is a kind of an early childhood educator. A little child imitates the adults surrounding him that is why it is a great responsibility to bring up a child. Generally speaking, an Early Childhood Education is everything which is good for the child’s emotional and physical development. It is connected with all aspects of early life experience. Taken into account the primary definition of this notion, early childhood education is everything which surrounds the child when he is not at home or under his parents care (Research into Practice, 2007). When parents leave their child to other people, they should be aware of their competence to work with children. That is why educational management has become so actual in early childhood education which presupposes certain characteristics of specialists in this area.

The term of educational management which is used in the United Kingdom is supplanted the notion of educational leadership in the USA. Nevertheless, there are a lot of researches on this subject which point out the importance of educational management in early childhood education. Early childhood educators are in demand nowadays. It has become a burning issue for many people to find the specialists to bring up their children. That is why educational management is widely used in different early childhood education centers and programs to provide qualified services.

The process of deciding the main goals of organization is the basic task of educational management. The main aim of early childhood education centers is to provide a good and healthy atmosphere for children’s development. Children’s life is influenced by pressures from the external environment. The main aim of early childhood education centers is to protect children from this pressure or to soften its influence. It is necessary to have a special preparation and experience to achieve these aims. Most early childhood education centers are based on the qualifications of administrations, teachers and learning assistants. The works in this field are required to have special certificates, licensing and degrees (Early Childhood Education and Degrees, n.d.) These specialists should focus on pedagogy, human development and epistemology. There are special departments which prepare such specialists for working with children. More than that there are special on-line courses which prepare such specialists. The role of early childhood educators should not be underestimated and everyone who wants to work in this area should take the study and preparation very seriously.

Educational management is used to achieve the main aims and to develop the skills and talents of teachers as well as children and their parents (Bush, 2006). Every member of the family should be involved in the child’s education. As for the skills of professional workers in this area, there a wide range of dimensions of leadership. They should be a guide to children and staff, act like professionals, be a good communicator, be able to meet people’s demands and needs, be a flexible and multifaceted person, be responsible and visionary (Scrivens, 1999). Bilingual education, literacy, mathematics and science will be always necessary in this area. Every early childhood educator should have these characteristics. There are special programs which help to develop these skills and prepare qualified workers in this area. The theorists of educational management are still working on these programs. Educational programs for children will always be in demand that is why being an early childhood educator is very promising.
