Management in Healthcare and Its Main Principles

Introduction

Management and leadership in the healthcare system is a unique set of measures, methods, practices, tactics, and strategies in the medical environment and sphere. Such actions, as a rule, are aimed at forming new aspects in healthcare, maintaining existing concepts, as well as their comprehensive improvement, drastic change, and modernization. Undoubtedly, “medical” management has its following principles, which will help improve the quality, productivity, and effectiveness of each medical specialist. A case study in which the principles of healthcare management are synthesized and answer to a specific question are the key elements to be considered in this paper.

Synthesis of the Principles

The Main Principles and Its Interpretation

By itself, the management of medical elements is a relatively continuous process of influencing the management object necessary to achieve optimal results with a certain amount of resources. It is also worth noting that this is a rather complex process and phenomenon in which several vital points interact and complement each other at once. In this vein, internal and external factors and conditions, various, non-routine situations, and circumstances are also constantly considered. Accordingly, to implement a competent, effective, and profitable management strategy, one must simultaneously adhere to several principles, rules, and standards.

To date, there are several official principles of health care and those attributed to them due to medical specialists and persons interested in specific field. For instance, the following concepts are related to the primary cases of optimal control and management. Thus, the principle of integrity or, in other words, purposefulness is considered one of the most dominant, essential, and fundamental. A leader sets specific goals and objectives, chooses methods and means to resolve conflict situations, develops alternative options, predicts the consequences and chooses the best path available (Hassan & Shkak, 2020). Moreover, a competent specialist can skillfully manage resources, direct forces and abilities in the right direction, and increase productivity through the division of labor (Sandi & Kangbai, 2019). The concept accumulates all the components of the management process. This idea finds its expression in creating and developing organized and meaningful foundations of care and treatment processes. Its essence lies in the fact that any goal and task should be subordinated to the solution of a common goal in the field of healthcare – the treatment of patients.

The principle of security of the solution is another equally important element in the management process. This concept requires a head and subordinates to unquestioningly comply with mandatory rules and regulations, laws, and charters. A manager takes responsibility for actions, showing honesty and fairness in relation to profession, affairs, duties, colleagues and, of course, subordinates (Sandi & Kangbai, 2019). Thus, such a measure is not only a manifestation of the legal culture of the head but also a specific guarantee of success in achieving the intended goals. Moreover, the principle of management optimization is necessary to solve fundamental issues of great practical importance. This approach makes it possible to improve the structure of the managed object, increase functionality, which leads to the weakening or complete elimination of internal negative processes. For example, in management, any object evolutionarily develops and improves. Hence, the primary sources of its development are internal contradictions, and the future of a healthcare organization depends on how these contradictions are identified in a timely manner.

The principle of unity of team means giving the head of a management body or a healthcare organization broad powers to perform functions, with the establishment of personal responsibility for the results of work. This idea is usually justified and implemented in a management system with a high level of centralization of power. However, it should be taken into account that medical care management and medical workers are not the same (Haughom, 2018). This means that doctors and nurses need to be involved in the process because, as practice shows, they have excellent information about the provision of assistance (Haughom, 2018). Hence, intertwining into a single whole, the leader and the employee interact and contact in the best possible way, avoiding various conflicts, force majeure, and troubles (Sandi & Kangbai, 2019). In addition, in this context, the head of a management body or a healthcare organization is given broad powers to perform functions, establishing personal responsibility for work results.

My Interpretation About the Principles

Undoubtedly, the list of highlighted principles is not limited to those listed earlier. I would also add the following ideas regarding healthcare management processes. For instance, in my opinion, the main principle of management and control in medicine should be carried out with the help of improved interaction with patients and employees. Such an essential element is a building block in constructing high-quality communication and considering the needs of each of the parties included in the healthcare system (5 principles for improving quality management in healthcare, n.d.). Moreover, it is also worth focusing on relationships with suppliers and representatives of certain services. Thus, well-established communication is the key to the implementation of high-quality work and service. Such measures minimize and prevent various kinds of mistakes and further difficulties (5 principles for improving quality management in healthcare, n.d.). Therefore, active interaction, cooperation, mutual assistance, good support, and contact between a leader and subordinates create excellent working conditions, an optimistic mood, and a friendly atmosphere.

In addition, I think that a successful manager should see broader and more profound, understand the essence and meaning of the events and possible results. Hence, a head is recommended to be guided by the principles of analyzing current moments and predicting probable events. This process opens up new opportunities for further development of planning, organization, regulation, motivation, and coordination strategies. With such extensive knowledge and ideas, the manager will improve the quality and productivity of healthcare organizations.

Impact on My Outlook and My Decision-Making

The aspects mentioned above can fundamentally affect my worldview and decision-making in healthcare and radically change it. Thus, these principles have enriched and expanded my knowledge and ideas about management and leadership in the field of medical practice. Accordingly, as a leader in the field of healthcare, I would apply slightly different principles and actions in the performance of duties. In my opinion, I would look at the picture of situations from a different angle and side. I will have access to a reasonably comprehensive and diverse range of tools and tools in the management of organizations and employees. Hence, I will be able to perfectly cope with such tasks as managing and allocating resources, planning and drafting tactics to achieve maximum efficiency, analyzing the current state of affairs, forecasting risks and potential benefits. Indeed, the principles would positively favor my worldview and serve me as an ideal auxiliary tool in strategic planning and decisions.

My decisions and actions based on specific principles will be established as follows. Primarily, referring to the concepts outlined above, before proceeding with the execution of the decision, I would determine the actual essence, nature, and significance of an issue, analyze and thoroughly investigate it. Based on the situation, it is important to apply careful, deliberate and thorough planning (Hassan & Shkak, 2020). Planning is an integral and integral part of success in the administration process (Hassan & Shkak, 2020). I would also carefully consider each step and determine both the positive and negative sides of specific actions. If possible, a perfect directive would be collecting and selecting the necessary information, as well as its verification. Thus, on the basis of a more thoughtful, comprehensive, consistent, comprehensive study of the problem, it is possible to implement and consolidate the solution.

Involvement in Healing Profession

Such a concept as involvement in a healing profession includes several key points and meanings at once. For example, involvement in this context implies love and commitment, mutual interest in people and their health problems, as well as the performance of high-quality, effective, and productive work at all stages. A specialist in this field uses a relatively wide range of tools aimed not only at treating the disease but also at its relief, rapid healing, and prevention of further development (Awdish & Berry, 2019). A healer is actively involved in the value system of work, profession, business, company and competently interacts with internal and external development processes, integration, and adjustment of medical aspects. A professional submits new, better ideas, and shows initiative that serves as a source of strength for organizations in which this medic works (Sandi & Kangbai, 2019). Consequently, such statements give reason to believe that involvement, in this case, is inextricably linked with motivation, desire, aspiration, and high ambitions. A professional in care makes every possible effort that arose from within and not under external pressure, whether positive or negative.

The life of such an important worker in society is inextricably linked with the profession, duty, and medical responsibilities. Individuals identify themselves with their high and valued work, merging with it and thinking already in a specific direction. Hence, a healer treats the area of interest with awe, love, and care, pays attention to even minor details, and considers these points. In brief, a specialist involved in the profession of healing performs high-quality and effective work, showing attention and care. Such a person shows a high degree of satisfaction, loyalty, and involvement in the process of solving challenges and issues regarding the health and condition of citizens and the community. A healer makes the maximum efforts possible and receives only positive emotions, a charge of energy, harmony, and satisfaction from this.

Conclusion

In conclusion, management in healthcare is a particular area of management, regulation, and control of healthcare’s financial, labor, and material resources. This model of control, verification, and monitoring has its principles to reduce the losses of society from morbidity, disability, and mortality of the population with available resources. Hence, with the help of these principles and concepts, I will change my view for the better; I will be able to improve my knowledge, skills, abilities, and talents in decision-making in the role of a future manager. It is also worth noting that involvement in such a significant profession is determined by high motivation and the desire to perform duties as best and efficiently as possible, based on internal needs and not external pressure.
