The Causes of Pregnancy Symptoms

Women experience varying pregnancy-related symptoms because bodies are different. However, it is essential to understand their causes during gestation. Nausea and vomiting are associated with the rapid changes of the hormones’ levels such as the rise of estrogen (Sapra et al., 2017). As a result, these variations lead to diverse muscles’ relaxation and contraction patterns of the intestines and the stomach. Sapra et al. (2017) explain that the body makes the relaxin hormone during pregnancy, allowing the pelvic area’s ligaments to relax and the uterus to expand in preparation for the birth process. This hormone can loosen the spine ligaments resulting in back pain and instability.

The right calf pain or leg cramps can be caused by the baby’s increased growth, which pressures the blood vessels. Frequent urine passage is normal in pregnancy signs, caused by human chorionic gonadotropin and progesterone hormones (Sapra et al., 2017). The levels of body fluids increase, meaning that the kidneys work extra hard to eliminate the liquids. Some pregnant women might have a decreased urination rhythm during the fourth month, but it rises as the baby drops to the pelvis.

Back pain symptom is a priority pregnancy symptom among the four because it can lead to a miscarriage. Sapra et al. (2017) explain that although this pregnancy sign is common and might be experienced throughout the gestation period, intense pain can indicate that the body is ready to expel the unborn child. Therefore, a pregnant woman should seek medical help if the discomfort exceeds two weeks.

In summation, varying pregnancy signs and symptoms occur to different women. The sudden increase in hormones is a primary cause of nausea and vomiting. Effects of relaxin can cause lower back pain: therefore, a woman should seek medical help if the discomfort exceeds fourteen days. Leg cramps are caused by the baby’s pressure on the nerves and blood vessels. Frequent urine passage is expected if not accompanied by urinary tract signs and symptoms.
