The Features of Welfare Policy

The policy of the authorities at different levels has a significant impact on various social structures. Depending on the authorities’ decisions, people feel protected because the laws and regulations are genuinely fair. With the help of policies implemented in a city or state, it is possible to protect the environment, economy, society, and human rights (Libal, Mapp & Ihrig, 2011). Therefore, this topic is quite acute and requires careful study. The purpose of this paper is to describe the features of welfare policy and consider specific examples of its application.

Healthcare is one of the essential areas of the functioning of any country. The standard of living of the population directly depends on managing its processes at the state and local levels (Vojnovic et al., 2019). People are now becoming more aware of health issues, so they can enact the right laws and have a beneficial effect on individual states and the world at large. Knowing about health is a key to the well-being of any human, and governments should pay attention to it (Green, 2018). In addition, medicine, sociology, and politics are constantly evolving, giving the world new scientific discoveries and points of view. All these developments can and should be applied when creating social policies.

For instance, in New Jersey, several legislative initiatives support the healthcare system. One of the most important examples is the public health insurance program SHIP (Kimuyu, 2017). It allows older people to have access to medicine without significant costs. This is undoubtedly a positive phenomenon affecting life expectancy and human wellbeing. Drugs and medical services are becoming more affordable, so older people can easily access them and cure diseases that previously did not respond to treatment.

Another useful initiative is related to cancer treatment. It is called Screen NJ and involves government agencies in the early detection of cancer. This disease is fatal and, unfortunately, widespread. Hence, this initiative helps fight cancer and gives people the chance to live longer and better lives. It uses modern technologies and involves qualified medical workers to provide proper services for patients. This helps to increase the level of trust in the state’s leadership and the health of the people living there.

An example of an organization that requires a specific policy is the Adult Medical Daycare Center. Social work interns can influence such organizations’ well-being (Patton, Zalon & Ludwick, 2018). For example, it would be useful to create a specific structure for initiative interns. They could discuss current issues of the center at regular meetings. It can be related to the institution’s general state or some particular issues reported by patients. The selected intern could then communicate with the center’s management and suggest improvements, and the center will provide the necessary funding (Sauter et al., 2019). This would improve the premises’ condition, the treatment of patients, and many other aspects of the organization’s functioning.

Healthcare is a key development area for any government structure. This allows countries to create a healthy living atmosphere for people. Thus, they will feel protected and cared for. They will not be afraid of high medical costs or incurable diseases. This will allow society to become more free, open, and fruitful. People who are confident in their future trust local and state leaders. This contributes to the development of all other spheres of human activity and, as a result, global progress.
