Culture’s Influence on Learning Style

Culture can highly shape the chosen learning style of a person. Analytic learning includes segmenting detailed knowledge into manageable pieces and examining each piece separately, while relational learning involves understanding complex knowledge in the context of linkages and interactions (Feldman, 2021). Analytical and relational learning styles can differ amongst sociocultural communities since cultural values, attitudes, and practices impact people’s learning. An analytical learning style may be more prevalent in sociocultural groups emphasizing individuality and autonomy. Sociocultural groupings that place high importance on freedom and individualism may be less likely to demonstrate a relational learning style. These learning styles can influence cultural beliefs and norms, which in turn might affect parenting or teaching methods (Feldman, 2021). Analytical learning styles may be more appreciated and promoted among youngsters in societies that strongly emphasize individualism and independence, such as in many Western societies. This might result in parenting techniques emphasizing individual accomplishment, independent thought, and problem solving. Teachers in such cultures may also use personal assignments and exams that encourage analytical reasoning and autonomous learning.

A higher chance of aggressive behavior may be linked to exposure to violence in the media. Discovering new behaviors through monitoring the activities of others and the following results are known as observational learning (Hameed & Irfan, 2020). Viewing violent media might teach children to become aggressive through observational learning. Therefore, a child will internalize and replicate the aggressive behaviors of a style icon in the future.

Positive reinforcement involves making a desired behavior more frequent and providing a pleasurable experience. For instance, as an instructor, I give students a small incentive if they actively engage with the lesson (Feldman, 2021). Negative reinforcement entails increasing the regularity of a desired activity and removing an undesirable input. For example, being a teacher, I might discontinue giving a student punishment if they turn in their homework on time. Positive punishment involves adding a repulsive trigger to avert an undesirable activity. For example, as the manager, I may give an official warning to a worker if they commit a mistake. Negative punishment involves removing a pleasurable stimulus to reduce the frequency or possibility of undesirable behavior. For example, I may ask a disruptive student to leave the classroom briefly as a teacher.

I want to reduce the number of cigarettes I take daily and target to smoke no more than two. In order to achieve this, the following systematic program is followed. First, I will develop a plan to modify cigarette-smoking patterns. I will choose tactics based on the principles of behavior modification. For example, I will promote activities incompatible with tobacco consumption, like going to the gym. I will apply the plan consistently by maintaining records and observing the desired behaviors. Thirdly, I have to follow the progress to gauge my success in achieving this goal. Lastly, I will modify the strategy if I discover it is not working, determine what needs to be modified, and make the necessary adjustments.

Operant conditioning is a behavior-learning model that teaches animals new actions by employing positive and negative rewards, reinforcement schedules, cognitive therapy training, and discriminative stimuli (Wahome, 2022). In order to increase the likelihood that a behavior will occur, positive reinforcement entails offering a reward or a pleasant result, for example, providing a dog with treats when it sits on order. The owner should reward the dog with a treat when it exhibits the desirable action, such as sitting. This positive reinforcement encourages the dog to repeat the act in the future (Feldman, 2021). By eliminating a lousy signal, negative reinforcement increases the likelihood that a behavior will occur. For example, releasing the bit pressure whenever a horse paused and began moving on instruction. The steps listed below is what I will use to train domestic animals using operant conditioning. Firstly, I will choose the behavior I wish the animal to acquire. Secondly, I will choose and establish the proper reinforcement method. Thirdly, I will use molding to instill behavior to the animal. Finally, I will add training in stimulus control, and avoid any punishment to the animal.
